While I really like the idea of OO, I have to tell you, I also use WordPerfect and for years, they have had the option to insert two different headers and to suppress either one on any particular page you wish to have it suppressed. I don't know anything about programming, but if this can be adapted to OO, someone ought to do it.

Hi again

well, you could also have created a new "page style". On that page you would not show footer and header. Assign this style to the page you needed these settings - done? Done (at least in the setting that's in my mind)!

The page style i also needed for landscape / porait changes etc.

Olaf-

Thanks for the comment, and yes - your suggestion is *almost* perfect. The reason I didn't use that method is because I needed to convert my (very long) document to PDF, and I wasn't allowed to have any images present in the final PDF. Even though the images covering the page numbers would have been completely white, my understanding is that they would have been included in the final PDF.

However, for a regular document, your suggestion is excellent.

Hi

well, I really like OO too and have written 4 papers (economics, math, 2 teaching) with it. I know there are some problems when it comes down to "very specific" whishes. I really use styles a lot and wherever possible - even in short documents.
For your problem a solution seemd to me quite obvious (as a workaround):
Just place a white square over pageheader and -footer. Didnt this work for you?
